Built for South African exam venues

Every venue, on time.
Every learner, every minute.

A clear, calm countdown on the projector. Up to three papers side by side, extra time worked out for every concession group, and matric bathroom tracking — so invigilators can watch the room, not the clock.

Exam Timer on a projector: two matric papers counting down side by side, with extra-time rows and the bathroom status line
Built for the exam room

Everything an invigilator needs. Nothing they don't.

One screen the whole hall can read from the back row, set up in about a minute.

Up to three papers at once

Different subjects in one venue, each with its own countdown and schedule, side by side.

Extra time, worked out for you

+10, +15 or +20 minutes per hour. Every concession group gets its own row with its own finish time.

Matric mode

Extra time after the paper, and a clear bathroom status: locked for the first hour and the last 30 minutes, available in between.

Reading time built in

Five or ten minutes of reading before writing starts, shown separately on the schedule.

Warnings you can hear

A gentle chime at each change, and a clear five-minute warning on screen before time is up.

Disruptions handled

Fire drill or power dip? Add or remove five minutes and every finish time moves with it.

Accommodation venue: one paper with a countdown and separate rows for +10, +15 and +20 minutes per hour
Concession venues

Extra time without the arithmetic.

Tick the concession groups in the room. The timer works out when each group starts reading, starts writing and finishes — and shows it all on one schedule.

  • Accommodation mode: extra time before, one shared finish
  • Matric mode: shared start, extra time after
  • Finished groups fade out, so the room always knows who is still writing
Three different papers counting down side by side on one projector
Shared venues

Three papers. One screen. No confusion.

Afrikaans in the front, English in the middle, Life Sciences at the back — each paper gets its own countdown and its own finish time, readable from the last desk.

  • Your school's name across the top of every screen
  • Light and dark themes for bright halls and darkened rooms
  • The date and a live clock, always in view
How it works

From sign-in to projector in a minute.

Use your school account. It takes you straight to the timer, with your school's name already on it.

Enter the papers

Name, finish time and duration. Pick the venue type and the concession groups.

Launch on the projector

One click goes full screen. The timer takes it from there.

The setup screen: papers, venue type, extra-time groups, theme and sound

One card. Every setting.

No manual to read. The setup screen keeps your venue's settings from day to day, and today's papers too — so a timer closed by accident reopens with its times intact.

Reliable when it matters

An exam never waits for the Wi-Fi.

Once a PC has opened the timer, it keeps a copy of it. If the network drops in the middle of a paper, the countdown simply carries on.

Runs in the browserChrome, Edge and other modern browsers. No installs, no admin rights.
Keeps running offlineA dropped connection never stops a paper that is already running.
No learner dataThe timer never asks for learner names or marks. It only checks your school's subscription; papers, times and settings stay on the PC that uses them.

Questions

Good to know.

What does it cost?

R150 per month per school, VAT included, on a 12-month subscription (R1,800 a year). That covers every PC and every exam venue at the school, all three exam modes and every update.

Do we need to install anything?

No. Sign in, open the timer and put it on the projector. It works in Chrome, Edge and other modern browsers.

What happens if the internet goes down during an exam?

Nothing you will notice. A paper that is already running keeps counting down. A PC that has opened the timer before also keeps a copy of the timer itself, so it starts even with no connection — open it as an app (Chrome and Edge can install it, see the guide) or from a bookmark of the timer page itself, whose address has /timer/ in it. This home page and the guide need the internet.

How is extra time worked out?

Per hour of the paper: +10, +15 or +20 minutes for every hour. A three-hour paper with +10 minutes per hour gets 30 extra minutes. Each group gets its own row with its own finish time.

What does matric mode do differently?

Everyone starts together and extra time is added after the standard finish. The bathroom status shows "locked" for the first hour of the paper and the last 30 minutes before the standard end (it stays locked through the extra time), and "available" in between.

Can we run more than one venue?

Yes. Open the timer on as many PCs as you have venues — each one runs its own papers.

Is there a guide for invigilators?

Yes — the user guide walks through setting up a paper, every part of the projector screen, the alerts, and what to do when something goes wrong. It prints as a handout too.

Something is wrong on exam day — what do we do?

The timer keeps running once it is open. For anything else — accounts, subscriptions or a fault in the timer — email catmastery.sa@gmail.com with your school's name.
